Hello, I am Katalin

I was born in Budapest, Hungary and from a very young age I have cooked and baked with my Mum, which has slowly become my passion. 

Although I didn’t realise this until about three years ago when I decided to apply back to college to learn professional cooking and baking. Prior to this I have gained a Business Degree in Hungary and subsequently working in management positions in Scotland.  

I felt that sitting behind a desk and doing my daily duties is not really for me as every day I would come home eager to bake or cook something for my husband and two young kids. 

Back in 2017 my big decision was to put a stop to what I am doing and challenge myself, so I applied back to college. 

The idea was that I pick myself a part time cookery course which turned out to be a full-blown course at Moray College. The professional cookery course was nothing less but “push you out of your comfort zone” and looking back to college days today I am so glad I did it. 

Unfortunately, my studies there were ended by the Covid 19 outbreak and like everyone else I had to come up with a plan different from what I imagined doing.  

Therefore, I set up Torta by Katalin which could not be more fitting. Torta means cake in Hungarian.
